Thankful Thursday - To Sir, with Love
Watkin Motor's Ford Presents Thankful Thursday in support for Vernon's Literacy Society, featuring To Sir, With Love.
To Sir, With Love is an Idealistic engineer-trainee and his experiences in teaching a group of rambunctious white high school students from the slums of London's East End.
The Literacy Society of the North Okanagan has been offering charitable services in the community that reach back to 2007 and earlier. With the help of many wonderful, dedicated volunteers, we offer literacy support to children and adults through our programs and services, and work with our community partners to fill gaps and develop initiatives. From Books for Babies, to Digital Literacy for seniors, to our popular Adult Spelling Bee Team Challenge fun-raiser, we are all about learning and literacy.
As students are heading back to school and our school-based programs are getting ready to launch, we hope you will re-enjoy or enjoy for the first time, this timeless classic To Sir, with Love. Thank you for supporting us and thank you to the Towne Theatre and to our Thankful Thursday sponsor, Watkin Motors Ford.

Train Wreck Comedy Cares - Big Daddy Tazz
Get ready for an uproarious evening of laughter and goodwill with Train Wreck Comedy Cares, an unforgettable comedy event at the Vernon Towne Theatre. We’re teaming up with the CMHA Vernon & District to raise funds for a great cause, and we’ve got a headliner who’s larger than life—the one and only Bipolar Buddha himself, Big Daddy Tazz! And to top it off, our event is proudly presented by the fantastic folks at Castanet.net Vernon.
Funds raised at this event will go towards the new North Okanagan Youth Integrated Service Hub.
So, who exactly is this Big Daddy Tazz, the Bipolar Buddha? Well, picture a performer who’s part comedian, part motivational mental health speaker, and all-around entertaining dynamo. He’s here to educate, entertain, and inspire you like no other!
With a wide range of performances under his belt—from entertaining a client’s 101st birthday bash to surviving a biker initiation—Tazz has become one of the most sought-after comedians of our time. On and off stage, he lives to bring laughter into people’s lives. His spontaneous style effortlessly brings the audience together, making them feel like part of his own family, gathered around the kitchen table playing crib.
But Tazz’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. After three decades of denying the mental illnesses that were impacting his life, he finally embraced his identity as a manic-depressive, attention deficit, socially anxious dyslexic. It was a game-changer. Tazz realized that he had the power to either let these conditions control or enhance his life, and he chose the latter. Today, audiences eagerly join him on his rapid cycle ride down the never-ending road to recovery as he tours across North America. His mission? To spread his message of good mental health far and wide, drawing rave reviews and earning standing ovations wherever he goes.
With a reputation as “one of the most talented comics in the business,” Big Daddy Tazz has been wowing crowds for over three decades. Whether it’s fundraisers, corporate events, festivals, or television appearances, he brings the house down every single time. And to top it all off, this year he was honoured with the prestigious John Candy Award for his outstanding contributions to comedy and mental health.
Bar will be open serving win, beer and cider.
