Doors Open 5:45 pm | Show Starts 6:15 pm, with an intermission | Event Ends 9:45 pm
Featuring "Coming Home" and "Portraits From A Fire", this event is more than just watching a film! Enjoy the smooth sounds of music by Duane Marchand, and delight in selections from Indigenous World Winery, Salsational Salsa & nacho chips, Bannock Bitz, and Candied Salmon from Okanagan Select! The lobby features art by David Wilson Sookinakin, Wendy Chambers, and Up the Hill At Loakin's self-care botanical products.
“Coming Home” is a pre-release mini-documentary screening of hope and healing based on the true stories of the unlikely friendship of Charlene SanJenko and former Kukpi7 (Chief) Wayne Christian and their foster care and sixties scoop experiences.
Following the film, Charlene & Wayne will host a Q&A, and listening circle with the audience.
After the intermission, enjoy the feature film, “Portraits From a Fire.” - a Canadian comedy-drama film, directed by Trevor Mack. This coming-of-age story is about Tyler, an eccentric and lonely teenager who spends his days filmmaking, vlogging his Indigenous community, and spending time with his grandparents. As a family secret unravels, Tyler must fight through distorting realities.
