Welcome to Vernon's First Japanese Film Festival, put on by the Vernon Japanese Cultural Society! This celebration includes film screenings, live Taiko drumming, speakers, and cultural food offerings.
Films take place over the course of several weeks on Nov 2nd, 3rd, 10th, 16th, and 17th.
Individual day admissions $10
Full festival pass (5 days) $40
Introduction and greeting by Hirano Sensei; live Taiko drumming by Vernon Taiko and Raiden; followed by a screening of the award winning film Perfect Days (in Japanese, subtitled in English)
Doors open: 5:30pm
Greeting: 6:00pm
Live Taiko Drumming: 6:20pm
Movie Start: 7:00pm

Hirayama is content with his life as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. Outside of his structured routine he cherishes music on cassette tapes, books, and taking photos of trees. Through unexpected encounters, he reflects on finding beauty in the world.
