Watkin Motors Ford Presents Thankful Thursday in support of The Vernon Japanese Cultural Society.
The Vernon Japanese Cultural Society, based in the Centre on Bella Vista Road, evolved out of a
farmers’ association that was founded in 1935. Organizations such as judo, karate and taiko
drumming clubs, the Vernon Buddhist Temple, the Japanese Women’s Auxiliary, the Chidori Kai
traditional dancers and the Vernon Japanese Language School operate from the Centre. These
organizations are open to everyone, and the cultural, educational, artistic and sporting activities benefit both the Japanese Canadian and larger Vernon community.
Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships are sunk near Odo Island. An expedition to the island led by Dr. Yemani soon discover something far more devastating than imagined in the form of a 50 meter tall monster whom the natives call Gojira. Now the monster begins a rampage that threatens to destroy not only Japan, but the rest of the world as well.
